        The round

Oman Observer reported on 4 November 2026 that mamun raised $3 million in seed funding to expand trade finance between the Gulf and Asia.1,2,3,4,5,6

Phaze Ventures led the round through its Oman Fund. Future Fund Oman, a vehicle of the Oman Investment Authority, backed it, and Abu Dhabi-based Jasoor Ventures also took part. Individual contributions were not disclosed.1,2,6

The company says the money will go to finding trade finance transactions, improving its AI-based risk assessment, and strengthening monitoring and collection after financing. It has not disclosed targets for additional trade financing after the investment.1,2,6

        How the platform works

According to mamun's own press release, it is a Sharia-compliant platform that links businesses needing working capital with investors who fund their trade. It operates under the crowdfunding framework regulated by Oman's Financial Services Authority. Investors provide capital for approved transactions.1,2,6,7

According to mamun, it assesses individual transactions, such as purchase orders, buyers, shipping documents and past dealings, rather than mainly a company's financial history. CEO Saleh Al Tamami says decisions can take days once documents are complete.1,2,6

The company describes AI-based underwriting that also looks at the company, shipment and contract. It says an origination engine screens each trade as it forms, and investors then finance it.8,9

        Track record and China link

Al Tamami says mamun has facilitated nearly $20 million in financing since starting in Q4 2023, across more than 175 facilities for 84 businesses, including 78 Omani companies. He also says around 40 per cent of its trade finance activity by value is linked to Hong Kong, the Greater Bay Area and mainland China.1,2,6

The company set up Mamun Hong Kong Limited in February. Al Tamami confirmed mamun has not secured any contracts directly resulting from the agreements announced during the Omani sultan's state visit to China, including the Central Bank of Oman and People's Bank of China currency swap agreement.1,2,6

        Other figures the company gives

According to CEO Al Tamami, mamun supplies the technology behind Oman Housing Bank's Iskan platform. He says Iskan has processed more than RO 400 million in housing financing, which Oman Housing Bank provided.1,2,6

The company reports that investors from more than 55 nationalities across over 25 countries have taken part in financing through its platform.1,2,6

Where the region's builders and backers meet.

        Building it, or backing it?

MindEast explains how the region's technology works, one fact-checked story a day, and introduces founders to the investors who fit them, from Casablanca to Beirut to Riyadh.

        About MindEast

MindEast explains how the Middle East's technology works: a short explainer every day on Instagram, the full story behind each one here, and every Monday the region's startup funding rounds. The Launchpad introduces founders to the investors who fit them.

        Why MindEast

In 1202, a merchant's son in Pisa finished a book that changed how Europe counted. He had learned the digits zero to nine in Béjaïa, a trading port on the Algerian coast where his father worked. The numbers the world computes with reached the West through this region, along the same trade routes that once carried the Phoenician alphabet across the Mediterranean.

Somewhere along the way, the region started exporting its builders. Its engineers left for Silicon Valley, and its founders moved their companies abroad to be taken seriously. Now the tide is turning back East.

MindEast's biggest bet is the region itself.

        How MindEast checks

A funding round counts as confirmed when the company or its lead investor announces it on its own site, or when two independent outlets report it. Two outlets are independent only if different groups own them and they are not both state media of one country, and a press release printed by several outlets counts once. When sources give different figures, both are shown, with who said what.

Every story is written from the facts checked for its Reel, and every claim has a numbered source. A company's claims about its own product are labeled as the company's, and a fact that only one source gives says so. The same rules apply to every country covered.

What MindEast keeps, why, and how to have it deleted.

        Visiting this site

No cookies, no ads, nothing that follows you to other sites. The site and its fonts are served from mindeast.ai itself. Cloudflare, which hosts it, counts visits without cookies (Cloudflare Web Analytics: which pages are read, and roughly from which country), and keeps short technical records such as IP addresses to keep the site running and safe. If you switch the site to dark, your browser remembers that choice; nothing is sent anywhere.

        Introducing yourself, and the newsletter

What a form sends is used only for what that form says:

        • Founders. MindEast keeps your details to read them, reply to you and suggest investors who fit. An investor hears about you only if you say yes.
        • Investors. MindEast keeps your details to check your profile and send you founders who fit, each only with their yes.
        • Newsletter. MindEast keeps your email address and when you signed up. Every email has a link to stop it, and one click is enough.
        • Only the MindEast team sees what you send. It is never sold and never added to anyone else's mailing list.
        • MindEast looks at the public links you give it. It never collects data from LinkedIn automatically.

        The services involved

        • Cloudflare hosts the site and runs Turnstile, the check that a person, not a program, is sending a form (it loads only with the forms). An introduction waits there only until MindEast's server copies it, within minutes, and is then deleted from Cloudflare. The newsletter's list of addresses stays there too, so the link to stop it works at any time.
        • Hetzner runs MindEast's server in Finland, where your details are kept.
        • Telegram carries each introduction to the MindEast team's private group.
        • Amazon Web Services (Amazon SES, in Ireland) sends the newsletter.
