      Stories

The full story behind each MindEast Reel, written from the same checked facts, with every source.

Where the region's builders and backers meet.

        Building it, or backing it?

MindEast explains how the region's technology works, one fact-checked story a day, and connects the people building it with the people backing it, from Casablanca to Beirut to Riyadh.

        Why MindEast

In 1202, a merchant's son in Pisa finished a book that changed how Europe counted. He had learned the numbers in Béjaïa, a trading port on the Algerian coast where his father worked: the digits zero to nine. They reached the West through this region, along the same trade routes that once carried the Phoenician alphabet across the Mediterranean, alongside the algebra a scholar set down in Baghdad. Much of what the modern world computes with was ignited here.

Somewhere along the way, the region started exporting its builders. Its engineers left for Silicon Valley, and its founders moved their companies abroad to be taken seriously. Now the tide is turning back East.

Our biggest bet is the region itself.

        About MindEast

MindEast follows the technology being built in the Middle East and the founders building it. We publish a short explainer every day on Instagram, the full story behind each one here, and every week the region's startup funding rounds. The Launchpad introduces the region's founders to the people who back them.

        How we check

A funding round is confirmed when the company or its lead investor announced it on their own site, or when two independent outlets agree. Outlets only count as independent if they are different outlets, not owned by the same group, and not both state media of the same country. When sources give different figures, we show both and say who said what.

When a company makes claims about its own product, we say they are the company's claims.

        Our rules

Nobody pays to appear on MindEast. We hold no stakes in the companies we cover, and if that ever changes the page will say so. Our opinions are about technology only and are always labelled. The same rules apply to every country we cover. Our pipeline uses AI to find, check and draft, and a person approves every story before it is published.

How MindEast keeps its stories apart from its introductions.

        Stakes, scout ties and sponsors

Today MindEast has none. If that changes, the company, fund or sponsor is listed here first, and every story about it says so on screen and in the caption.

        Shares in companies MindEast covers
        None
Scout or referral ties with funds or programs
        None
        Sponsors
        None

        Stories are never for sale

        • Nobody pays to appear on MindEast: not in a story, a list or Raised This Week.
        • Introducing your startup never buys a story, and it costs nothing.
        • MindEast takes no fee on money a startup raises.

        Introductions

        • A person reads every introduction.
        • Investors are checked before any founder is shared with them, and a founder is introduced only with their yes.
        • Details people send are never sold and never added to mass mailing lists.

        How the stories are made

Every Reel is made with AI from the sources it cites and approved by a person before it goes out. A fact comes from the company's or investor's own announcement, or from two independent outlets. Every country MindEast covers is held to the same rules.

        Privacy

What MindEast keeps, why, and how to have it deleted.

        Visiting this site

No cookies, no ads, nothing that follows you to other sites. The site and its fonts are served from mindeast.ai itself. Cloudflare, which hosts it, counts visits without cookies (Cloudflare Web Analytics: which pages are read, and roughly from which country), and keeps short technical records such as IP addresses to keep the site running and safe. If you switch the site to dark, your browser remembers that choice; nothing is sent anywhere.

        Introducing yourself, and the newsletter

What a form sends is used only for what that form says:

        • Founders. MindEast keeps your details to read them, reply to you and suggest investors who fit. An investor hears about you only if you say yes.
        • Investors. MindEast keeps your details to check your profile and send you founders who fit, each only with their yes.
        • Newsletter. MindEast keeps your email address and when you signed up. Every email has a link to stop it, and one click is enough.
        • Only the MindEast team sees what you send. It is never sold and never added to anyone else's mailing list.
        • MindEast looks at the public links you give it. It never collects data from LinkedIn automatically.

        The services involved

        • Cloudflare hosts the site and runs Turnstile, the check that a person, not a program, is sending a form (it loads only with the forms). An introduction waits there only until MindEast's server copies it, within minutes, and is then deleted from Cloudflare. The newsletter's list of addresses stays there too, so the link to stop it works at any time.
        • Hetzner runs MindEast's server in Finland, where your details are kept.
        • Telegram carries each introduction to the MindEast team's private group.
        • Amazon Web Services (Amazon SES, in Ireland) sends the newsletter.

Seeing, changing or deleting your details

Ask any time and your details are shown to you, corrected or deleted within 30 days. Message @mindeast.ai on Instagram.

        Newsletter

The week's checked stories and funding rounds, every Thursday.

One email a week: the stories MindEast told that week, each with its sources, and the funding rounds confirmed by the company or by two independent outlets. Nothing in it that isn't on mindeast.ai, and nobody pays to be in it.

The newsletter opens soon. Nothing you type here is sent yet.
